Archeological Sites

Southwestern Saskatchewan was once home to many plains-dwelling First Nations Peoples. Vision quest circles, medicine wheels and stone effigies tell of the important role this area played in their culture. In order to respect both the sites and the current landowners, tours to some of these sacred areas are possible only through prior arrangement and permission.

The Great Sandhills

The Great Sandhills, a fascinating tract of huge, active sand dunes, supports one of the largest populations of Mule Deer and Sharp-tailed Grouse in Saskatchewan. It is also home to such rare and interesting creatures as the Ord's Kangaroo Rat. Enrich your visit to the Great Sandhills by visiting the Great Sandhills Museum, located in nearby Sceptre.
